Safari Tents
A Short History
The Safari Tent is the glorified term for Wall Tent, distinguished by four straight vertical walls providing more headroom than their pyramid shaped counterparts. They first appeared around the 16th century, becoming popularized by various wars for housing soldiers.
The term “Safari” surfaced in the 1920’s in The Chicago Tribune, giving a more glamorous spin to the otherwise militarized canvas and poles.
Structurally, Safari Tents and Wall Tents are not technically different, only in their use and aesthetic interior decoration. Safari tents are where glamor meets wall tents and can thrive in all four seasons if you do it right. Which we can certainly help you with of course.
